Candle Makeover

I have a jar candle and I don't particularly like the decal that's on it-- but I love the candle itself.  It's time for a makeover...

I am not sure it turned out the way I envisioned it, but it's done.

This is what I started with.

Wrapped some of my multi-purpose fabric (seems I am using this for a lot of things around the house).  And then wrapped some lace around to help hold it in place.  I did add some hot glue though to the join to make sure.

Then I added a star.  Maybe I should have stopped here, but it still looked kind of bare to me.

I began to add some buttons.

Then I added some Jute to the top.  Tied it into a bow, separated the 3 ply ends, and braided them.  Added a couple more buttons to the bow and finished.

  1. Very cute! I need to dress up some of the jars that I buy at Big Lots from time to time (they aren't pretty but smell wonderful. I really like the button and jute details!
